Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway Commission
The Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway connects to Delaware’s byway of the same name and extends into Pennsylvania’s Brandywine Valley. The 25-mile route forms a figure-eight loop along Route 52, Route 162, and Creek Road. The Byway highlights the region’s rich history, from early settlement and the Revolutionary War to the Underground Railroad and renowned cultural institutions.
Protected farmland and conservation efforts preserve its scenic beauty. Established by Congress in 1991, the National Scenic Byways Program promotes tourism and economic growth. Pennsylvania’s Byways Program, launched in 2001, includes 21 byways — four of which are nationally recognized.
The Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway Commission, representing five townships, advocates for the Byway’s preservation, funding, and improvements.
