The Township is preparing to begin an update of its Comprehensive Plan, which was last adopted in 2014. The Comprehensive Plan serves as a long-range policy document that guides the orderly growth and development of the Township by addressing land use, infrastructure, housing, economic development, and environmental stewardship, while protecting public health, safety, and welfare.

As part of this effort, the Township will be forming a Comprehensive Plan Task Force consisting of Township professionals, committee members, elected officials, and staff. The Township is also seeking two community members to serve on this Task Force and provide resident input throughout the planning process.

Community members selected to serve should expect to attend approximately 10 Task Force meetings and two public informational meetings over the course of the project. The Comprehensive Plan update process is anticipated to take approximately 18 months, with work beginning in February.

Residents who are interested in serving on this important committee or who have questions about the process are encouraged to contact Township Manager Neil D. Vaughn by email at nvaughn@pocopson.org.

Community participation is a vital part of shaping the Township’s future, and interested residents are encouraged to apply.
